Hiya here’s a page about me and how I came to be a part of Jahera.

I was born on the 17/10/1982 in the beautiful island of jersey, although both my parents are from bonny Scotland. I live in a small cottage in St Helier with Luci and Clyde and work for the States of Jersey.

Jersey is a small island (9miles by 5); we are an hour away from France and half an hour away from the mainland UK (by air).

To get to the shows in the UK it’s either a 3 hour fast ferry boat journey or a very long and boring 10 hour journey depending on the weather!! Now that’s dedication for you.

Jersey is a beautiful little island surrounded by sandy beaches and wild dunes, which the dogs take full advantage of. (Picture of Clyde looking over dunes).

How did it all start with Afghans!!

It started at the tender age of 9 when I went to see the Jersey Junior Handlers Easter match, this was where I saw Claire and Liz Millward (Alouann) handling a big hairy hound…I later found out that it was an afghan. I was then introduced to Pam and Stuart Mottershaw of the Elangeni Affix and the rest they say is history. I was hooked on the breed and showing.
At 13 I handled my first group winner in Jersey, I have successfully handled Afghans and whippets to gain the following awards, CCs, Jersey CCs, groups and Best in Shows and Best Puppy in shows.
I have also attended the Afghan Hound World Congress in 2006 which was held in South Africa.
I have served on the kennel Club of Jerseys committee both as a committee member and as Show Secretary.

I first met Nikki at a breed club seminar when Angel ‘Jahera Angel at Mine’ was just a baby. Our friendship developed after are first road trip to Germany to pick up Tala, Asia and Baxter from the Nightwind Kennel. It was during this trip that we found that we had a lot in common especially when it came to Afghans.

It was in January 2008 when Nikki sent me a picture of a young afghan male named Luciano and asked whether id like to go into partnership with him. I jumped at the chance not only did I like the dog and the pedigree behind him but I was also desperate to own my own Affie.

So Luci joined me and Clyde in sunny Jersey, he is a joy to live with (even though he does eat sky remotes), and gets on fantastically with Clyde my whippet. They both love nothing more than running on the beach and having an ice-cream.

It has not been an easy journey for me in 2008 but it has been made a lot easier from the support I have received from Nikki, Richard and not to mention my Mum. A huge big thank you must go to her…love ya! My best mate has also been a huge support and plays a big part in the Luci fanclub.

Outside of dogs, when I'm not working, I love nothing more then a good night out. I enjoy reading and enjoying the beautiful walks that Jersey has to offer.

Thank you Nikki for asking me to join Jahera
